The Element, Honda's multi-functional and versatile SUV, broke with the status quo when it debuted during the 2003 model year. For 2005, all Elements boast added features and value, including a longer list of standard safety features, along with new color combinations and two new colors for the Element's exterior composite body panels.

In accordance with Honda's industry-leading 'Safety for Everyone' commitment, all 2005 EX Elements will feature anti-lock brakes and front side airbags as standard equipment. EX models will also benefit from MP3 and Windows Media(TM) Audio (WMA) playback capability as well as standard XM(R) Satellite Radio.

For 2005, LX models add two features previously reserved for the EX trim level: power mirrors and cruise control. Additionally, LX models now have standard wheel covers. The variety of exterior color combinations also increases for the EX model. Silver EX models are now accented by blue cladding panels and Red and Magnesium EX models have black cladding. Also available on EX models are three new colors- Cargo Khaki, Magnesium Metallic, and Rallye Red.

Element provides the most versatile package for any vehicle in its price range with a hard flat floor like a pickup, an enclosed rear area like an SUV, fuel economy and maneuverability similar to a car, side cargo doors, and available 4-wheel-drive.

Honda's 2.4-liter, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder engine with 160-horsepower and 161 lb.-ft. of torque is coupled to either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission and provides good acceleration while maintaining fuel economy in the low- to mid-twenties. The i-VTEC system (the "i" stands for "intelligent") combines Honda's patented VTEC system with Variable Timing Control (VTC) to enhance low rpm torque while extending high rpm horsepower. Honda's Real Time 4WD(TM) system is available on all models and 16-inch wheels are standard.

Element's chassis features a Toe Control Link MacPherson strut suspension in front and a compact double-wishbone suspension in the rear. Although similar to the underpinnings of the Honda CR-V, significant adjustments have been made to the uni-body construction to allow for the B-pillarless design and the low, flat floor.

The Honda Element entered new territory when it debuted during the 2003 model year by providing a multi-functional cargo area, innovative and versatile seating, durable and dirt-friendly interior, energetic performance and outstanding value.
